However - I was able to get TWRP installed using: fastboot erase boot; system; userdata and cache and afterwards installing TWRP as in published instructions.
Then followed the instructions for installing SailfishOS. However - the installed SailfishOS did not boot. Only FxTec logo was shown forever.
No problems to install LineageOS afterwards.
Edit: I have screen photos of the TWRP SailfishOS install process, but nowhere to upload them currently...
Edit2: I'd rename the title of the tread to: SFOS on F(x)tec Pro¹: stagnation, unresolved issues, fading interest...
So - here are yhe photos:

Any ideas what got wrong?

I've noticed an issue with the keyboard: after booting, the software keyboard does not pop up in a text field until the hardware keyboard has been opened and closed once. Any idea how to fix this?

With a keyboard phone that sounds not the most annoying issue. Changing a phone to one with no hwkb could be one solution. Or is there a reason for prefering software keyboard? Like I use software keyboard with N900 only for special characters cause have never bothered to learn how to get the special characters with hwkb. Needing %[{|¿^ not too often but sometimes.

My reason for this is that, given the current world situation, when I go out I bring my pro1 in a ziplock bag so that it doesn't get contaminated as a result of anything else I touch. The problem is that I can't open the slider while in the bag. This is fine for my main use cases while making a trip (listening to music, communicating with people), but the other day I had to reboot to fix a bluetooth issue and then was unable to make a text message due to this keyboard bug.

@acrux how long did you wait with the fxtec Logo shown? I remember, when I flashed Sailfish on my device. I also thought I wasn´t succesful. So I flashed 4 times, only to recognize that first boot takes ages. I think it was around 5 minutes but I thought the device stuck on boot screen.
