Parler is a proprietary commercial system and I would not expect the API to be opened. They are also Horrific security hole riddled messes and are possibly political-police honey traps. If you want a good secure IM and messaging system I like Briar which uses TOX and p2p Bluetooth/WiFi message passing in absence of functional internet such as Hong Kong vs CCP scenarios. Signal is good too just not so apocalypse resistant. Both of these systems or even just using a vanilla TOX client is possible for FOSS phones as these systems are open source. Neither of these are associated with a singular political movement in the US and are instead projects based on private secure communications.
(edit)
It is worse than I thought, it is hosted on repurchased AWS and !!requires uploading a government issued ID!!
This looks like a bad high school project funded by ignorant boomer retirees, setting taside the political association, this gets an F for security possibly by intent, for expressing 'dissident views' it seems like using a bitcoin wallet associated with your bank account to buy heroin on silkroad after the mess of it being used to coordinate the US capitol raid, if it is not now just a Federal police system maintained to monitor the alt-right.
I hate censorship but top to bottom Parler is the worst.
Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are just like parler, better executed user-is-the-product-for-sale on closed systems and walled gardens.
Until we get our act together as tech using humans and move back to decentralized open systems like email or IRC we will forever be subject to digital censorship in the the private salons and lecture halls owned by others that for some reason we choose to use.

OOOOOF!!!
it might still be possible to scrape ALL parler messages and posts as they were sequentially numbered, just write a wget script form 0 to some number past the latest public post and grab those as numbers in the URL format you can download the whole message database!

Probably better to have a good matrix client and a good bridge to parler or whatever platform you want. Since it means more control over your core infrastructure.

So read-only client can be made with wget and sh-script
