Dear Maemo community,

After the touchscreen of my Jolla phone stopped working, I am using the Nokia N9 again.

Unfortunately, sometimes I do not receive an SMS message, sent by others to me. This of course causes a lot of confusion as the sender thinks, it was delivered. I remember, that with the Jolla phone I often received SMS messages twice.

I am using O2 mobile in Germany.

Is there a way to debug the issue? Access or enable some logging?

Thanks,

PaulePanter

Hi
I remember dealing with this issue and it was very frustrating, because you could never tell when it happens.
Rebooting the phone sure helped but restarting some service was enough. Unfortunately I don't remember what that service was.
Cheers

I seem to recall that incoming messages with special characters (lookin' at you emojicons) would just silently fail on the N9. Don't recall if there was a fix -- at the time I viewed it as a feature. (old school winkies cheerfully allowed)

Haven't re-read thread concerning implementation of emojifix for number of years now:https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?...&postcount=132

I fixed my phone about a week ago.
Make sure you have Developer Mode and aegis installed. Put the 2 files on your phone.
Code:
# aegis-dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/libsms-utils0_0.5.17.3+0m7_armel.deb

# aegis-dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/libsms-utils0_0.5.17.3+0m7_armel-mod.deb
It will at least have the messages delivered to you with emojis as []
Apparently you can also install an emoji pack.

Dear TMO community,

Thank you very much for the quick replies with the solution. I would never have thought, that it’s a problem with Nokia’s shipped operating system, and would have expected the network operator.

The README in the GitHub project harmattan/emojifix explains the issue quite well.

Regarding the fonts, it looks like Harmoji needs to be installed. Though Google Code download page says there are problems with version 0.7.3 in OpenRepos, and version 9 mentioned in issue 1 is not available.

Thanks,

PaulePanter
