which one?
Unfortunately neither suitable as trying to apply Swiss DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3.480.04.1_PR_LEGACY_480_ARM_RM-696_PRD_signed.bin is regarded as "downgrade" by existing DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3.420.4_PR_420

You might want to try either DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_003-OEM1-958 or DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_005-OEM1-958 or DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_006-OEM1-958 from the first post.
One of then should work, depending of your variant (001, 003, 005, 006) guessing yours is higher than variant 001 as that didnt work.

It IS possible to downgrade. By replacing the certs, as the device does have a history of previously versions. But, success depends on whats on the ‘cache’ (simple said), and replacing those certs is not that easy. I did it once , but honestly, cant remember the complete steps. The tools needed and a rough deskription is in another thread somewhere on downgrading.

So, try different variants first. Just not China ones

Ah yes. True, i guessed there were a reason why it left my mind. Well, sadly that leaves downgrading near impossible (unless you want to take the device apart, and hook up the flashchip to a programmer)

Hi guys,

I am considering buying a Nokia N9 phone.
I asked the seller to send me the firmware version,
but I am not sure about the result. :-)

What I am trying to determine that if this is Chinese firmware or not as I would not want to buy a phone with that.

Could you please help me to determine which region is the firmware from? I think it is not Chinese and it is a branded firmware.
Also is this the latest version available?

That's all I know for now.

The firmware version is: V40.2012.21-3.339.2_PR_339

Thanks a lot for the help!

Tamas

Hi,
Hope you have put device on charge by now looking at photo. Your N9 should be 059L7S2: N9 RM-696 Country Variant Sweden SE Black 16GB and firmware DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3.339.2_PR_LEGACY_339_ARM_RM-696_PRD_signed.bin

Source of reference is this thread: https://www.mcrf.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=32960 and is the latest firmware available.

Hi Aspergerguy,

Actually, this phone is not mine: yet.
The photo is from eBay, I kindly asked the seller to take a photo of the software version screen. (In the end, I have bought it before your response, I was not able to resist.)

But I will do charge it once it arrives. :-)

Thanks for your response!
(I am really happy that it has European firmware and it is the last available version.)

Tamas

Hi aspergerguy,

I am reading in the forum that if I want to use the repomirror package, I might need to reflash my device.

You mentioned the file DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3.339.2_PR_LEGACY_339_ARM_RM-696_PRD_signed.bin

May I use this link from this thread's first post if I really need to reflash my device? (The last firmware link called, "A0E9827F_DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3.339.2_PR_LEGACY_339_ARM_RM-696_PRD_signed.bin

D6C9C818_DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3.339.1_EMMC_339.bin")
https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ars13Tv5L15qjddx76WEm7jvkeeqiQ
Or is it may be possible to dump the current firmware from the phone itself?

Sorry for the noob question, but I am really anxious not to screw up the phone by flashing something inappropriate.

Thanks a lot,

Tamas

[QUOTE=tvandorffy;1571719]I am reading in the forum that if I want to use the repomirror package, I might need to reflash my device./QUOTE]

Remember that you would need to send N9 Repomirror to device by Bluetooth from another device as N9 browser certificates now expired and in Settings > Applications > Installations > Allow installations from non-Store sources:
https://openrepos.net/content/ancelad/n9-repomirror

Try first without re-flashing firmware.

Hi aspergerguy,

Thank you, I will do that first.
I would want to avoid flashing if possible as the device already has the latest version. (I did flash several of my devices, android phones, my Nokia N8 in the past, so I think I probably would be able to do this as well. But I need to know for sure which flash file that I can download is good for my device.)

Kind regards,

Tamas
