Dear Maemo community,


Switching providers from Telefónica O₂ to PremiumSIM E-Plus, I am again unable to download MMS or use the 2G Internet. (I had the same problem with O₂ until traveling to Poland, where Orange was used, and coming back to Germany, it somehow worked then.)

PremiumSIM’s documentation contains:

Name: frei wählbar, z. B. „MMS PremiumSIM“
APN: mms
Proxy/WAP-Gateway URL: 2a00:0fbc:2200:c999:0109:1f87:2:1
Port/Port für WAP-Gateway: 80
MMSC: http://mms.1und1-mobilfunk.de

Authentifizierungstyp: nicht definiert / default
APN-Typ: normal
APN protocol: IPv4 / IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4 / IPv6
This was imported/configured correctly automatically, at least the fields I see in Settings → Applications → Messages → Multimedia message center, when I choose User defined. There is the field MMS-Zentrale-Port (German), that is set to 0, and I do not see the field for MCC or MNC. Can I verify these from the terminal somehow?

A lot of operators have turned off 2G, some of them years ago.
Now the situation is repeating with 3G.

Regarding MMS, I have never had any success with it.
Ever.
Not on the N900, not on the N9, not on Jolla, not on any Sailfish X device.

I just got used to it and learn to treat all Linux based phones as limited use devices. Luckily, it doesn't bother me since my social life is equally limited

Consider yourself lucky if it's ever worked for you at all.

Perhaps not the best of tests using O2(UK) on Xperia and Tesco (O2-MVNO) on iPhone, but can receive and send MMS upon Xperia 10III Sailfish X.
