Example repository: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/fremantle/
has i386 version for all files, but where I can get Maemo 5 for i386 devices? It would be fun test with old 32-bit PC.

I have a distinct memory of Maemo being a GUI choice in i386 Debian a few (10?) years ago.
I remember thinking, "hmm, how curious", and moving on.
When I wanted to try it out a few years later, it was no longer an option.

Never saw Maemo5 running on i386. But could be that there were devices. When I remember right then hildon was used somewhere else.

Personally I used this repository for the scratchbox development environment. Also sometimes you develop an application on the i386 target and when it is done you try to compile it under arm target. In rare cases you needed to make changes for arm.

You are right, it was Hildon I had in mind. Sometimes I get confused and treat them as synonyms, although I know it's wrong..

Maemo 5 has kernel versio 2.6.x.
And Debian versions 4-6 had kernel versions 2.6.x.
But what i386 Debian version I should use, I remember that some of these version (was it Debian 5?) come with new bug that never fixed not even today Debian versions:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugr...bug=464962#143
That prevents run it with Cyrix, Via, Transmeta and Connectix i586 CPUs. And ofcourse I want test with those

But what else needing, I think those Debian versions installation DVDs does not have Hildon-desktop as option, am I right?

EDIT: But it seems that it have been in testing version short time:
https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/hildon-desktop
Is that testing version impossible to find these days?

The old git link is git://git.debian.org/pkg-maemo/hildon-desktop.git
So I guess you will find it in folder pkg-maemo from git archive.
