Hello,
Just installed Leste on N900 and glad to inform that this little piece of hardware is doing 2023 things...
I have installed snapclient and works.
I have tried squeezelite and works.
I have installed rtl_433 but no OTG so no adapter found.

Best regards

PSPP (gnu version from SPSS data analysis program) works fine with Pinephone Keyboard.

easy install:
sudo apt-get install pspp

As hard to use as original SPSS, but although menus are small you can use them with touch screen, so maybe can use also with Pinephone (without keyboard). Should work with Droid4 too, maybe even with N900.

Some DOS users might want to know that Devuan version of ARJ is also working with Maemo Leste.

easy install:
sudo apt-get install arj

And it works also with multi volumes, so old floppy size option -v1440 is possible. Remember that original DOS arj volume max is 1 GB. But I didn't find the limit of whole package. I tested 4.7 GB file (at least it is over 32-bit limit) with option -v1G. So moving big files over FAT32 formatted memorystick is possible with arj.

Surprisingly Telegram-desktop (from devuan chimaera repo) works quite well on N900: messaging, calling, sending and receiving files work.
The app is slow to start (around a minute), swapping 100MB of stuff, and then works well. Ui is quite smooth.
Some non critical settings crash the app btw (it works finally with a longer click)
CPU usage is quite low and RAM usage is acceptable on N900.
With last Leste updates, that's perfectly usable without overclock.

if there is an app where i want to contribute a fix and sent a pull request to the maintainer, but the maintainer isn't active since 4 years, what would be the procedure to get that changes to an app hosted in extras-devel? i'm currently using sailfishOS but ordered a pinephone pro and want to use the fahrplan app with the oebb backend, but they changed their servers from http to https. i changed that in the accodring c-file and created a pull request for that on github. i tried also sending a private message here, but it seems that i have forgotten how to do that, because i cannot find it anymore. so if that person got the message i'm sorry if this is annoying.

You are referring to Maemo Fremantle extras-devel? That's mostly dead for years. Last package built there was in 2020, according to http://maemo.org/packages/

Maemo Leste does not use those repositories.

You want to use it on Maemo Leste, or Sailfish?

oh sorry, i believe maemo-leste is the os, but i see it in maemo fremantle also, so maybe it's only there. i just dug up the sources and assumed the package is in maemo-leste.

it can be made to work on Maemo Leste ... needs to be ported (because Fremantle is likely using Qt4, while Leste is on Qt5), and your https fix could be incorporated. would you like to help with that?

yes i like to help with that. I can also try porting other apps. On Friday i should get my device where i can flash maemo-leste. Then i can start. I'm no real developer, but i know some coding. I used to compile appps on sfos on the phone with generally "qmake ." and then make -j8, is that possible on maemo too?

Is it possible for you sicelo to check this list?

https://leste.maemo.org/Wishlist

There may be many apps which are irrelevant if there is something equal working on Leste or if they have been already ported. If there is equal it could be pointed to in that table. I don'y have Leste at the moment or N900 at hand and I'm in totally different landscape working and not gonna be hassling for a long time with N900.

But I think those apps on the list are good ones (or were) to port.
