Oh no. I got the device today and it is a pinephone pro. I tougt i can just flash pinephone images to it, but no. So i requested to swap the device to a pinephone. There is no way one can build maemo for pinephone pro?

There is!

While Leste does not currently already provide Pinephone Pro support, adding that support is definitely something we all want. If you're willing to get your feet wet a little, the team would be more than happy to assist you.

Is the Pro still an option?

yes. But I'm not a real developer. I learnt programming in school for 6 years and at university i took a few programing courses. I tried porting sailish t a samsung with help of the community. I could compile the kernel, but it didn't boot and i couldn't go further even with their help. I flashed maemo-leste to the pro and it cannot boot now. My only option i know is an sd card to boot. This will be a huge learning curve even getting it back to boot. I was presented with a bootloader during initial boot and assumed it would stay even after i flash and i can just dd back sailfish over usb if something goes wrong, but sadly no.

the thing with the SPI flash partition seems to making things harder. I'm motivated, but i cannot do it on my own.

you don't necessarily need to be a developer.

i also don't know a lot about the Pinephone/Pro specifically. Perhaps consider joining and asking in one of the Pine64 rooms for a method to recover your device? There will definitely be one.

Because i checked the compile instructions and one has to set the device and there is only pinephone to set, not pinephone pro. I found instructions for booting from an sd card when the pinephone pro doesn't boot. Do you also have a pinephone pro?

i flashed tow-boot onto an sd-card, booted from it and installed it to the spi flash partition. now i can at least dd images. i'm trying mobian now, since that is what maemo-leste is based on
