Not sure what is the exact problem, but I have rtcomm-beta installed on OS2008 and have couple of accounts setup.

GMAIL
SIP
SIPPHONE
MSN

if I have a call IN or message IN no matter from GTALK or MSN my display turns ON and after that never goes off until I restart.

Usually after certain time the display goes off automatically but if I have a Incomming call or message IN, the display never goes off.

Anybody else experienced the same?

care to share?

I had the same problem you described. I ended up reflashing my device because of that. I always suspected that it had something to do with mmc-boot. I gave up booting from the card and reflashed my n800. I never suspected rtcomm

well, in my case I am not booting my MMC and I never boot from MMC.

I re flashed the device couple of time and every time after having rtcomm installed I have this problem, I can't say if I don't install rtcomm as msn and gtalk accounts are under rtcomm.

I don't know how to fix this, but everytime when this happen I end-up reboot my N800 to save the battery.

appreciate if someone can help on this.

Thanks,

FWIW, I am booting from MMC and I get the same problem intermittantly after an alarm goes off that causes the screen to wake up (ie: Korganizer)- it doesn't happen every single time though. I've also had the same issue after using mPlayer on a few occasions.

I've been unable to narrow down the exact culprit for this behavior and seeing your guy's posts makes me think that it's more a bug in whatever application or script that is responsible for the autodimming. Also - I don't use rtcomm at all.

Right... that's exactly my point. I can think of no reason for booting from MMC to be the cause for this bug.

I was trying to show that this bug is rearing it's ugly head in a variety of situations. The one thing all of us have in common is whatever app is doing the dimming.

Anybody know which app is responsible for dimming?
