Slightly OT - how does one setup a chat room, perhaps we could create one for the Nokia 770 or OS 2006?

Also, when viewing the list of available chat rooms - has anyone found a room with more than zero people, or is this just me? I'm yet to find a room with anything but zero members.

Woah...my google talk just mysteriously started working. Of course I never had a jabber account, but I assume it created one when I sign on on the 770? I don't know...but I had a google account already, but only now appears to be working. Do I have to sign up for a jabber account somewhere else before it works? Geez..now that I have it working no one is online for me to test!

Yeah, too bad I don't live in the downtown core. (I'm in Mississauga) I would jump on this in a second. However, I find quite a few open network connections under which gtalk would work though.

I find the best places to find open wifi connnections is near condos or apartement buildings. So many people with routers, that someone inevitably leave theirs open for use.

Getting back to the topic at hand, has anybody made a call that has not been choppy at all? I've had it work several times, but the call is never 100% perfect.

Hedgecore: If you want to give gtalk a try let me know. My addess is gumscan at the gmail domain.

Well, I've tried the folks who've posted their gmail addresses here, and nobody's answered. Either my timng sucks, or there're some ports I need to open on my router. Off to Google to investigate.

If anyone wants to give it a shot, my gmail address is dfbrothers at the usual domain (I avoid posting anything that even resembles an email address; harvesters are getting entirely too smart).

gtalk is returning no answer when I try to call you. Do you have your presence set to connected?

Might be that I was talking to somebody else - I've had two conversations in the last while: an outgoing to neoredux on jabber; and an incoming from narongpung on gmail. This damn thing works! Both were 770s at the other end; 770 at my end.

I'd try calling you back, but you haven't given your gmail/gtalk address.
