If you want the hassle of finding a good website, that is your choice.
The podcasts download automatically without waiting when you are doing other things. That is kind of what a podcast is!

I have found some, so it is no longer a hassle.
You mean, when I wake up, make some breakfast, and turn on my computer, the podcasts will be already there, waiting for me?
Because that is how websites work - you turn on the machine, run the web browser, and 10 seconds later the website is at your screen.

In my case, yes they will as my computer will just download them when I am ready.
Obviously I don't know as I don't have your super mobile internet connection that works miles away from transmitters and underground.
Podcasts are made by hundreds of different people on hundreds of different subjects. Some have indexes on the page you get them for, some have audio indexes, some just say what is coming up.
It is about choice. Just because you don't want that choice, doesn't mean that it isn't valid and will die out.

We have transmitters in the subway, as well as in the countryside. No 3G yet, but GPRS and EDGE are there. I find it difficult to imagine an urban place that does not have these nowadays.
Why is it that every time somebody has to defend utterly purposeless things, the "choice" argument comes up?Yea, you obviously have a choice and it is good to have a choice, no argument here. The argument is about whether this particular choice is any better than other choices.

but it takes no time to download a podcast, so maybe your computer could download while you were having a drink before leaving the house?
Sorry I didn't define 'in the middle of the countryside' as an urban place. The rest of the places have 3G, but not in the tunnels and subways.
huh? Of course you don't. It is an audio file. You listen to it.
because it isn't utterly purposless to many people. To many people it is the only viable choice.

I didn't either, just mentioned that GPRS is available both in urban and country settings, as long as you do not go kilometers deep into the forest or something. BTW, web pages load well enough with plain GPRS, no need for 3G
But then how do I navigate it if I only want to hear a certain piece (i.e. a gadget review as opposed to vacuous chatter)?
I actually get the point about podcasts being useful for people who drive (and like blogging stuff strongly enough to crave it even on radio). I can probably buy into the usage case where the user has problems concentrating (i.e. has ADD syndrome, is riding a donkey, etc.). But, aside from these usage cases, I do not see any others

ok, well I define the country as being kilometers deep in the forest, I wasn't aware you had a different definition.
So have you never listened to audio or watched a video before? I kind of find it pretty easy, I didn't realise you would have so much difficulty with it.
