I think the order of the forums here could be improved. Specifically, I think they should be in the order (using the current group names):

The Internet Tablet
Software
General Discussions
Site Specific

rather than the current order - in other words, General Discussions and Software could be switched. The reason is that the forums in General Discussions are quite trivial, what with Off Topic, Deals etc.

Any other opinions?

Good idea. And as I suggested previously, I also think the Wiki icon/link at the top should come before the Forum link. It might even be helpful for the Tablet 101 icon/link to come before it, too.

I wouldn't do that until there's actually useful content in those sections. At the moment 101 just has the N810 walkthrough, and Wiki has some very disjointed and inconsistent stuff mostly about the 770.

Have you skimmed the wiki lately? I think it's had a lot of (N8x0 relevant) stuff added in the past couple months, though it's still not well organized.

I'm hoping moving the wiki would help that. A psychological benefit.

I have, but it's still incredibly hit and miss, and there's still way too much emphasis on the 770.

There ARE some very good articles which deserve to be highlighted, but there's way too much rubbish in there for people to notice them. Some of the items in the Wiki are just links to discussions on the forums rather than actual wiki articles, which seems a bit odd.

I don't really dare edit it myself because deleting lots of its links would probably be controversial, but I think that's what needs to happen to turn it into a useful resource.

We really need some sort of concerted and organized effort to get improvements rolling on the wiki. I've tried a couple times in the past to get something like this moving without much success, though, unfortunately.

Yeah... I just had another look at it and it's hard to know where to begin though.

It's just the feeling of randomness you get when you browse through the articles. Some of the titles are incredibly specific, while others are very general, and the structure is unclear...

Here's an idea:

Hmm... maybe this might be more user-friendly with a search box front end, with a drop down box that lets you pick your tablet model.

There would be no front page index, just a search box, a bit like Google.

I know that's not standard for a Wiki, but it's what I'd do if I had to present this content on a website. It means that the lack of structure doesn't matter, and people will only see tutorials somehow relevant to the topic and tablet they search for.

There could be a link to the index page under the search box for people who really want to use it.

I've seen those search-only interfaces on some sites, and they're always annoying (to me). There'd better be an index page link...

But, yes, it's probably generally more useful to search than to browse it.

Well, my plan was to set down some ground rules for style and format then go through all the articles and get them cleaned up, up to snuff, and organized.

Never got any volunteers, though.
