You consider using tar? That seems a more natural choice to me...

Hello guys. I'm another lucky man which can't launch usb cdrom on my n800 tablet.
I've tried 1st time using attached *.deb file, after installation i rebooted device and attach cdrom, then there were two messages the first is that usb device is not supported and the that file system is not supported. After that i ran following commands and got following answers
/home/user # mount /dev/scd0 /root/mnt -t iso9660
mount: mounting /dev/scd0 on /root/mnt failed
/home/user # mount /dev/scd0 /root/mnt -t udf
mount: mounting /dev/scd0 on /root/mnt failed
At second attempt i reupdate software os2008 and launched *.ko files from the command line. The result was the same as in my first attempt.
.
PS I use cd rom Samsung Writemaster SE-TO84L.
Could you pls give me some recommendations?

Help! I'm having problems installing modules. When I type "insmod cdrom.ko", I'm getting "no such file or directory. Ditto for "insmod /mnt/initfs/lib/modules/2.6.21-omap1/cdrom.ko. Of course I'm root. Where are these modules located? Of course I've installed the cdrom.deb (dkpg -i cdrom.deb) as root.

Thanks in prior to all of your help!

If this is not working for you? Please provide some output.

dmesg is a command you can run from xterm to get information about whats happening when you plug in the CDROM/DVD

If you installed the deb, you do not need to reboot or do anything you should be good.

make sure the proper modules are loaded, from xterm run:
cat /proc/modules

Please paste your output for:

dmesg

and

cat /proc/modules
