Anyone seen or know how to port the game of Pente for OS2008?

There is a free Unix version here http://www.igoweb.org/~wms/comp/pente/

Pente is a board game where you need to place five pieces in a row or capture five pairs from your oponent to win.

Hi. This is fun.

http://pupnik.de/pente_2.2.5-5.1_armel.deb

Removed curses dependency (and xterm play). Removed docs and manual page. Added .desktop menu entry. Tested on os2008.

NEEDS: Fixup of the settings menu
COULD BENEFIT FROM: hildonization.

Seems to work well on my 770, OS2006 as well.

Looks like it was designed for the tablet! Nice fit, nicely done!

Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou!
I cannot believe that the day after asking, someone actually ported and posted it. It seems to work fine (and I beat it first time). Pente is the only game that I ever play on my Palm (great for waiting rooms, airports, shops that my wife wants to go in, restrooms etc).

I'll look around and try out the options. I see your comments so am not expecting perfection.

So another nail in my Palm TX's coffin.

Thanks once again!

PS: I don't want to appear greedy (even though I certainly am) but would it be helpful to post any usability issues that I find?

Sure, feel free to. Unless it's a simple fix I probably won't have time to address it though.

Actually it's pretty good as is. (Except that it has now beaten me a few times).
I think the the only thing I can think of that doesn't affect the underlying program is the ability to maximize the screen with the top button (just to help my old eyes).

Great work!

PS: There was just one more thing - how about a quick port of Microsoft Office with a button that links to it in case someone want to write a letter or create a spreadsheet while playing Pente? Am I being greedy again?

Just tried it. It is very similar but does not follow the classic rules of Pente. eg: no capture. It's also quite limited in that there is no undo or game difficulty setting. Thanks for the heads-up though.

Ehh, no problem. I just thought it looked similar to Pente so I linked it. I actually have a roll-up pente board somewheres....just haven't played in years.

NICE! I used to play the original roll-out game a long time ago.
