evince 2.21.1-1.maemo6 has been uploaded to extras-devel.

List of changes in this build:

* Made pdf properties window scrollable. Closes: #1980
Thanks to Vlad Vasiliev

* moved "close" menu item to the toplevel menu, to follow maemo
de-facto UI conventions. Thanks to Michele Campeotto

* disabled screen tap navigation in special mode Closes: #2070FR

* hopefully fixed double memory allocation for images in pdf documents
Closes: #2027 Thanks to Vlad Vasiliev

The last bugfix hopefully fixes problems with large documents. At least evince is now able to work with 2 documents from the bug #2027. Previously it was killed by OutOfMemoryKiller because it consumed a lot of memory. However I'm not sure this bugfix doesn't break anything, so more testing is needed.

Install file is at the same place: http://evince.garage.maemo.org/evince-devel.install

Note that It's still developer build, so be careful and install it only if you know what it means.

Ed

Totally awesome Ed! The screen tap navigation was OK when not using Continuous, but was driving me nuts when using Continuous. This new build makes reading page after page so much easier by just using a finger to move the page(s) up.

Evince is the most used program on my N800 by far. I'm spending less time on the Internet and more time laying in bed reading.

i just want to say i really love evince for chinook. i've been flipping between several open 100-page pdfs, while listening to internet radio and browsing the web! that could never happen with the built-in reader. this version even seems to run smoother and faster than the version running on my 3ghz ubuntu gutsy box.

spokewrench, I would hope so. The version of Evince in Gutsy has a nasty memory issue due to way it's way of rendering thumbnails and the documents themselves. (I believe there's a patch for it and it's fixed in Hardy).

Could you point me out to that patch, please?

It should be here

Also there's been bugs that relate specifically to ATI cards (the Radeon variety).

Thank you for the links, it was interesting reading.

I'll probably make change suggested by Carlos in our bag tracker: https://garage.maemo.org/tracker/ind...=547&atid=2062

Hi,

I uploaded maemo7 bugfix build to the extras-devel yesterday.
It includes Carlos' change from #2027 and supports djvu and DVI backends which were occationally forgotten in maemo6 build.

What I found a bit disappointed that my testers didn't tell me that djvu wasn't supported in maemo6 build. It simply means that nobody even tried to open djvu files! May be I should stop maintaining this application. It seems that people don't use it . I'd better do something more useful.

No you shouldn't - this is indeed a useful and very well done application, thanks!
The testers might simply need a test protocoll and test cases

Ed! Please, Evince is vital for me. I love reading PDF in my N800. It's really the most useful app, not just for me, but for a lot of people, I'm pretty sure.

Beside this, I find it one of the most well ported apps that the ITs have.

Sorry for not being a tester, though. I'm just a common and happy user.

I really love Evince.
