I have been so excited about spending a small portion of my tax return on an N800 and have been waiting with baited breath for it to arrive. It was delivered last night and I did everything right, I let it charge all the way before turning it on and everything! Anyway, I turn it on and low and behold I get a bunch of tiny black horizontal lines flickering across the screen.

I tried reinstalling the most recent OS (which it already had) but to no avail, it appears to be a hardware issue. I contacted the ebay seller that I purchased it from (why oh why didn't I just use NewEgg!?) and am waiting to hear back, and from what I've read on these forums Nokia's repair services aren't the route I want to take, since it's brand new and the seller sure as hell better do the right thing.

*Sigh*

I was so excited last night, talk about a major let-down.

Thanks for letting me vent, and if anyone has any suggestions, that would be cool, otherwise I'm just going to try to get a replacement or my money back.

Thanks
Mark

Nokia's costumer service has improved .... Hopefully they will install a brand new touchscreen and send it back within a week. That is what they did when my 770 got the wsod. So dont loose hope. I am sorry for you. I know how it feels.

That's good to know, maybe I was reading some older posts and should give Nokia's repair service a chance. We'll see what the seller is willing to do for me.

Has anyone else recently had good/quick experiences with Nokia's repair services for IT's?

Thanks
Mark

While I now refuse to use e-bay due to the poor service they now are, previously I use paypal with AMX and they always credit my account the few times I have had return issues...most of the times I also got to keep the items...however, they were small cost items and not working so that was not anything important...less than $50 items. However, with the big purchases when it was internet companies (like Eggheads, etc) I always either got a new item and/or monies back - they tried to have me pay for shipping again and AMX took it off the statement...not sure who had to "eat" that and I did not worry about it as I DID NOT....

Sad that E-bay has gone so far down hill...mostly I find equal and/or better deals in other places and do not have all the problems that has become the norm...IMHO...

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I just received my N800(bought on eBay). No Problems so far...

Could this be a seller issue vs an eBay issue? Maybe shipping damage?

I too, dislike the "new" eBay, as a seller. However, it seems that the changes were made to give the buyer more power.

Good luck! I hope that Nokia takes care of it for you.
