Has anyone managed to get OS2800 SIP client to make a connection to a landline using one of those ubiquitous sip services that are out there? For example voipcheap. I can call a landline from their client on XP and a 3rd part client (X-lite) on my Mac, but n800 does not connect for me for landlines, another account on the same network works fine though.

I run my own Asterisk server, and the sip client built into the chat software connects fine and I can make calls...

You say landlines are the problem? So you can call voip and mobile lines? Once you have established a sip session, the destination should not matter. So if there is a restriction on the destination you can get to, then it is likely a restriction on the account rather than the client.

I'm in the same situation as paulkoan, I run an asterisk server at home and connect to that with no problems. In fact, one of the accounts on my asterisk server is voipcheap.

is the landline you're calling ringing? Or are you just getting nothing?

Not running an asterisk server, but for me the OS2008 SIP client is working just fine with three different (german) SIP services. So I guess it should work with other SIP services, too.

No problems here. Using les.net . Direct connectino to les.net worked fine. Now going via voxalot for voicemail etc..., also works fine.

Check here: http://www.internettablettalk.com/wi...pBuster%2C_etc

or do a search for either voipdiscount or voipbuster for the workaround.

Probably it's the iLBC codec.

hope it helps

Anyone get Gizmo to work? I can't figure out what user name the settings want me to use with the @ _whatever-address_ field

sipgate.co.uk works well for me using the built-in SIP client in 2008 on N800.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to see this works for you. No luck here whatsoever though. Voipcheap XP client and X-Lite on my Mac no problem with either landline and network calls but Nokia SIP client using the same account and settings only network, landlines no go. To be more precise I made a connection once or twice in the last 2 months on something like 2-3 dozens test calls, meaning a phone would ring, but the subsequent calls always time out without the connection. Must try that iLBC codec idea one of these days.

BTW never a problem with Skype or Gizmo.

Edit:
mv libgstdspilbc.so libgstdspilbc.so.off
did it. No problems whatsoever now. Muchas, muchas gracias.
