At last! The latest beta version of Apple's iPhone 1.2.0 firmware gives you the possibility of saving pictures straight from Safari and into the Photo Album.

Guess so. Even I am amazed now and I don't even own one.

Everything that is there HAS to be amazing to make up for stuff that isn't.

The irony is you could save pictures on Nokia's smartphone S60 browser for a long time now, and it's actually the same open source webkit browser that the iPhone uses.

The S60 version of webkit has also had Flash support for over a year now, Nokia smartphones let you browse flash sites within the actual browser, and the latest models even let you open flash video. I have absolutely no idea why Apple couldn't implement it as well, they're using the same browser.

Knowing Apple, They will charge $$ for a firmware update to allow flash!

And after all the iPhone hype!

Slowly slowly they'll start adding features into their products that eventually see increased GUI complexity with multiple confusing gestures and touch points JUST to do what every other PDA could do since time began!

Of course, in order to have flash they will have to seriously improve the battery situation which can only be done in hardware. So another $500 later you can have flash.

This is why I have trouble seeing Apple as a revolutionary force, because they keep the prices of their products so high. When it looks like dipping into affordable territory, they update it and push the price back up.

All companies do this with their high end products, but they normally also have a big-selling budget line too. Apple doesn't "do" budget apparently.

It's always the cheap things that really revolutionise stuff, like cheap clone PCs did way more than the Mac to actually get computers in people's homes.

Having said that, it was quite cool the way Apple marketed the Mac Mini as something you could use with your existing PC monitor, keyboard and mouse. It helped spread the word that you don't need to buy a whole new package every time you buy a new computer.
