I am looking to have the capability of calling my Deaf friends using the web cam on my N810. the quality seems good enough but I would like to specifically be able to call the VPs Sorenson gives to them. It uses phone numbers rather than IP addresses. I have tried to access the Sorenson website but it seems to not function with my browser. Does anyone know of any software I can use?

If they have an N8x0 you can use the built-in google chat app, if they don't have an N8x0, then I think (I haven't tried it myself) you and your friends will need to set up a gizmo account to use the video capabilities from/to pc - N8x0

Thank you for the reply! The problem I am having is that the Sorenson VP is basically a regurgitation of the DLink VP which is hooked up to a television and high speed modem. There is no PC involved.

My hunch is that the Sorenson uses H.323 for video conferencing...which the %#@! IT does not support...which model Sorenson?

Sorenson Communications provides a video relay service for Deaf people to make phone calls. Along with this free service with use of interpreters direct calls can be made to other VPs as well as webcams on PCs without going through the relay. There is no IP address reqd because they assign phone numbers. They have VP100 and a newer VP200 and their own software. I basically need some software with video capability that i can just put in a phone number and call. I am looking for something I don't have to pay for.

Try: MS Netmeeting (built into Win9x, 2000, XP)

Polycom PVX (download a trial at: http://m2l.market2lead.com/go/polycom/pvx_trial_sw)

Open H.323
