I posted this back in february and got NO response, so I figured I'd come back and try again.

I've got a 770 that won't read MMC cards. I don't have another card reader that I can test the cards in, but they should both work just fine, one I had been using for a while and the other is brand new. Both yield the same "No memory card is inserted" error.

I've already got the Repair Request printed out to send my Tablet in to Nokia under warranty, but given that the repair center has been a bit of a black hole in the past I want to make sure it's not something I can repair on my own.

Both are Kingston 2gb MMC Mobile cards, one was working for quite some time previously, and one is brand spanking new. I have reflashed my tablet with the latest 2006 operating system and that hasn't done anything.

Any ideas?

How would that be relevant? It won't read either card, brand new or the one that had been in it.

Do you still have the 64MB card that came with your 770? Does that one work?
I'd find a friend with a card reader (most laptops now have SD slots), and with the adapter, you should be able to test those cards.
Unfortunately, without a card reader, you're not going to get too many replies for help, as there isn't much you can do to test.

However, even testing in a card reader can be iffy.

I can't read my Kingston 1GB or 2GB mobileMMC cards in my printer/card reader. It just doesn't see them. It sees my 1GB SD card, but not the larger mobileMMC cards. (It will read my 64MB card)

You know, I should have the 64mb card somewhere...I never even thought to try that one, since the other cards stopped working so suddenly I just assumed it was an issue with the NIT's card reader.

Also, what path does the tablet mount MMC cards to? I have not tried forcing it to mount through the terminal yet, because i'm not quite sure how exactly the filesystem is set up on Maemo.

Would it simply be
Code:
mount /media/mmc2/
?

Thanks desiv. Unfortunately I can't get it to mount through xterm, either, even as root.
