I have a Nokia N800 tablet which was behaving fine until I installed the new software kernel. A few hours later I was getting erratic messages about the internal memory card and now it is greyed out in the file manager and gives an error message "No memory card inserted". The card itself reads correctly on a PC or in the external memory slot. The card is a 1 Gbyte kingston . Restoring the original operating system made no difference.

Any advice or is this a hardware fault? or a known problem with these cards

Is the magnet still in the right place? If the magnet falls out, the N800 can't tell if the cover is closed, and you'll get this error. The magnet should be in the battery cover, between the latch and the metal sheet below it, in a small box.

So I'm not alone on this. Somehow, though coincidence or otherwise, my Transcend 16GB SDHC stopped working and will not be recognized by the N800. I have no SDHC reader and my notebook's SD card reader will not recognize the SDHC card, so it's going back for a replacement (assuming the dealer I bought it from will allow me to get a new piece under warranty without my original receipt).

You're saying that flashing didn't help? What about reformatting the card?

This kind of problem is what I have against buying one of the high-capacity cards. I'd rather have a maximum risk of losing a 4-gig card than a 16-gig card.

I am having the same problem. Brand new N800, just got it yesterday. External memory slot works fine, the internal memory slot will not recognize any cards I put in.

Running the latest version of the OS.

I called Nokia and the guy said that it sounded like the memory card slot was defective and that I should return it to the dealer.

Any ideas anybody ?

I've had my N800 3 days now and I love it....Wow, I got 2 16gb SDHC's coming. MP3's will go in the external. The excess extra on the internal will just be for brag. Hope these work...
My only suggestion is that before you send it back, see if a friend or your local computer store can format the SDHC for you and try again...

Good luck!

Had a similar problem with a Kingston 4G SDHC card, but since I replaced it, no problems.
