>> ...nothing to call home about...

Hyuk hyuk hyuk! Hmm, I wonder if you can use SIP to call SightSpeed users... that would rock

Erk, kind of going off topic...

Is Sightspeed running off SIP? If so, then it should work

Can confirm too, Skype works fine on OS2008. I did a clean OS2008 install from the old OS2007 as was recommended, some people had problem when I tried just OS update. Also Gizmo is working fine, I'm using voice only.

On the contrary, Skype on 2007 was terrible, it always crashed after ~10min. I wrote to both, Skype and Nokia, about issues with Skype and OS2007 but they turned me down, they were blaming responsibility on each other. Big warning to all, neither Nokia or Skype really support it! It's apparently just still a fun project for them, no big money = no interest to support people who bought in.
There were some posts indicating that Skype starts turning your machine to their p2p node after 10min, what a coincidence.

i use an N800 running OS2008 with the latest version of skype. i'm currently using this setup as my primary phone plan. while sometimes i have issues with broken conversations, for the most part i have no issues making calls with skype. there is an astounding number of wifi hotspots in my area. now, if they could only get the video calls working.
