For what it's worth, I'll throw this in on this thread. Maybe it'll help someone. I think this is a bit odd, but it is what I have experienced with the datebook sync thing.

When I first got syncing to work for me, the datebook program that comes with the GVM download would not sync for me.

My next move was to download the datebk5 software intending to eventually pay for it after the trial period expired.

The trial period expired. Guess what... The regular datebook software now syncs for me and I now use that for my calendar.

I have not removed datebk5 thinking that it is helping me out somehow

I am using palm desktop version 4.1.4

Oddly enough, now when I sync it says it has failed due to a lost connection, but it always totally syncs everything so far.

This isn't really synching, but it's what I do when traveling. First, I sync my Palm T|X to my Linux machine. Then, I copy over the Memo.pdb, Datebook.pdb, and Address.pbd files to the Nokia N800. Then I install them into gvm. I haven't tried to copy them back the other way, but I imagine that would work, too -- I just use this trick so I don't have to carry both Palm and Nokia when traveling. I don't do much adding to it.
