Greetings! I've owned an n810 for about three months now, and I love it. I've also been coming to this forum as a guest, both before and after my purchase, for research and problem solving. This is a great community, I just didn't get around to joining until now.

The only major dissatisfaction with the n810 I have is the additional $139 to use the Wayfinder application. I've dabbled with Maemo Mapper, but I really need something that can change routes as I'm driving...I tend to miss my turns a lot.

On to the point...

I've read in a couple different threads here that it's possible to use a license from an older Navicore, which will effectively give you a "permanant" Wayfinder license that can be used on the n810.

My question is, what devices, if purchased off of eBay, would give me this license? It sounds like it would be cheaper to do it this way--and I'd get a secondary GPS device out of it.

Or am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks for the input!

Navicore was available for several phones and the Nokia 770 and N800. I don't know if the phone licenses work with Wayfinder, but the Nokia 770 and N800 licenses definitely do.
Some places sell the Navicore bundle for N800 or 770 cheaper now.

I'm not sure if the license would be "permanent", though. I doubt it. I think it's the same as a normal Wayfinder license.

Personally I would just buy the Way finder licensee its only $45 a year if you buy it 3 years at a time. The fact that it only last 3 years for the subscription is fine with me because I doubt I will even have the n810 for 3 years in that time there will be similar devices 10x faster for less money. Even if you have the device for 3 years I am sure by that time it will be alot cheaper to resubscrib.
