Make a script, and symlink it, as discussed there, that does those things. (Instead of sysctl -p.)

There's plenty of applets that can run scripts for switching parameters at run time, but there are none to my knowledge that let you run things on startup, and no good reason for it is one that does that (with no good reason for it ). See below. You can use any of them, with a couple of scripts, to change the settings back and forth...

Edit: Heh, you beat me to it. That's one of the best options, but you'll still want the init script to set it on start-up.

ok...well now i heve alot more reading to do....most of my experience has been no where near instructive enough to undertake this yet....stress yet...ill have to read and reread whene time permits...thank you benson for the help way ot:benson was one of my favorite shows growing up

Yes -- and put it in your home directory. After you rename it, it will be hidden (but you can still open it.)
