You probably DO NOT have to start from scratch if you have not reflashed. A lot of the steps are good till the next flash and this is the BEAUTY of this particular script. Once you have made it work, the whole process is automated, requiring ONLY partition and format AND NOTHING ELSE. The dl, mkdir, chmod +x, wget, umount etc are ALL the same as you have done ONCE. Oh well, I just look at an opportunity to advertise for this script, , didnt I? Post back if problem,

Has anyone done both?

I want to clone my OS to my 4Gb miniSDHC, set that aside as a backup, then flash upgrade and install rotate, then if that's working fine clone to my other 4Gb minSDHC. All without using my flaky USB connection.

Which method would be the best?

i have run into some more problems. i totally reflashed and started again and this time when i follow all instructions i get up to (mkdir ~/bin) it says cannot create directory already exists. this is when doing it for the first time. i carried on and when i get up to (cd ~/bin) it says cant do cd to home/user/bin
when i do (chmod +x nupgrade.sh tar) it says no such file directory.
after typing becomeroot and i type (./nupgrade.sh wipe) it says ./nupgrade.sh: not found.
please can someone help i do not have a clue what i should do.
i am still currently in x terminal and it says/bin #. where should i go from here?
(i am doing this on the internal memory card on my N810)

- cannot create dir, as it has been done. so leave it alone, that is fine
- cd ~/bin, cant cd to /home/user/bin, STOP. This is the problem. you do not have the bin setup. Back track from here.

I have NO clue what system you are doing. Are u doing 770? N8x0? what capacity card you are using? clone to ext2 or ext3? mmc1 or mmc2?

Before anything, please, please, go get DiskUsage and gpe-file manager or emelfm2 first, you can then know what dir you have, what partition you have and what need to be create, and where do you back track to

Edit: Now I see, you are doing N810 on internal card, /media/mmc2, 2G nonmovable... OK, get those utility tools and take a look at your system, and see what goes wrong. That will be a first step. BTW, this is a fun exercise, dont get toooo frustrate, you will get it, by then your reward is more than getting it clone, you started to get comfortable with this beast called Debian and you know what, you can then turn around and 'help/guide' another community member....aint that beautiful! Cheers,

Post back if questions,

GeraldKo: I think it is a good idea to recommend those tools as step 0. Thanks,

bun

Go www.maemo.org>download and search for DiskUsage and dl and install; then search for gpe-file manager dl and install, and we can then talk. I am very positive, if you have those tools before you, you will not be in dark, you will sure able to finish this task in no time. It is NOTHING different then those dumb MS window installation program, you follow each step and check, if it does not work, there is A reason, so you back track. Go get those tools, and we can then talk.

If you have NO clue, go for PB's deb.
If you have SOME clue, go for GeraldKo's 2 pages 400 lines instructions.
If you are a veteran like gemniii42, go straight to here, (cut and paste from page 1 )

"If you want more options or understanding, see especially, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...01&postcount=1, Post #1 and Post #292. ...etc."

Edit:
Depends on the brand of the card, you may need a Panasonic LLF before proceeding

I never realize you would like to have a soft reboot, I have it here, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...=12863&page=19, thread #186, a little bit long, but less technical, and I have it on every single tablet I touch, and is the 2nd thing I installed right after become root.

I execute a small utility file from osso-statusbar-cpu, which allows one to put in some simple commands.

0) osso-xterm and becomeroot installed.

1) install osso-statusbar-cpu from debfarm, http://debfarm.free.fr, chinook, user or go www.gronmayer.com/it/ and search for it. You need to reboot to make it work

2) in the osso-statusbar-cpu icon>Settings...>Commands> New> Command: type this "/home/user/bb3.sh" (no quotation) and in the description, give it a name, I called it Bunreboot.

3) dl the bb3.txt and rename it bb3.sh and copy it to /home/user
Say, you dl to the default folder, enter these codes in xterm, you may need to gain root,

cp /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/bb3.txt /home/user/bb3.sh

4) chmod +x /home/user/bb3.sh
I do not know how to upload a .sh file . Hey you, stop laughing...
I hope changing the .sh to .txt and back to .sh will not disturb anything, or someone just have to teach me how to upload a .sh file.
Or, you can open the bb3.txt file and type in the code yourself.

This is a reboot, so save your work before reboot, unsaved work will be lost. From NOWON, just click Bunreboot ANYTIME you want to reboot.
bb3.sh should work for N810/N800/770 as long as you have osso-statusbar-cpu installed.

Enjoy,

bun

Post back if question. It works for me so far. Just for fun or revenge to the tablet, I have rebooted 10 times, work very well, only if some knows how to compile it into a .deb and put it on the desktop, that would be perfect.

Hello everyone, This is my first post on here, I am new to linux and using the Xterm. I am having trouble with the cloned os. I followed all the instructions on the first page. I am having the following problems. I used a 16gb SDHC Adata card.

1) The device displays 1KB available data, so I am unable to install any programs. I wanted to also install KDE but at this point i do not have any available space to install anything. The internal memory card displays 14.73 GB available.

Does this mean i screwed up the cloning process? Do i have to start all over and edit the partioning values? I used the values that were given for a 16gb card.

Any help would be really appreciated.
