The VLC thread-starter, bdogg64, the guy who posted links to the files, has not participated in these forums for months. He therefore is not around to update his original post. In fact, the links on his post have been dead for a long time.
Some unrelated folks who are interested in getting VLC working picked up the ball recently and, one thing lead to another and a very helpful guy posted a link to a new version on page 7 or 8 of the thread. This version is pretty experimental and not really working in the sense that you can use it for video playback.

Me? Personally, I'd pick an RPD in the same class, but probably something lighter like an M14 or G3 if not.
