i have usb otg working just fine on my n810 and my usb dongle. thank you very much.

but 2 gigs is just not enough.

i have an old ipod nano (1st generation) which is 4 gigs and is just sitting around collecting dust.... my 8 gig mmc1 card (less the boot partition) and 4 gigs of a nano gives me a very nice sized movie library.......

however i am getting an error when i connect the nano- "no file system"

the nano is set up for disk access (i used my wife's winxp box to reformat the nano - and i know it works- i put a movie on it - it is there and visible on her machine and on my osx mb

what o what am i doing wrong???

Doesn't the iPod charge itself from the USB host? The N810 is not designed to supply more than 100mA to the USB port in host mode... and likely the iPod is asking close to 500mA when charging. That's why you need to use powered USB hub.

Really? Would that make the N810 the world's first Turing-complete computer?

Older firewire iPods work. This means ones before the first iPod mini. They run out of juice fast, but they work. They new ones ask for (lots of) power, the old ones did not...

Edit: wikipedia has a good line up. On the iPod article, everything that says "Firewire (USB for syncing only)" or "Firewire or USB" will work, aka 3rd and 4th gen.

Ipod mini will not work (mine did not), because its really USB with firewire hacked on.

Edit 2: Ipod shuffle also works. My dad has one of those clip ones (new one), and it worked.

Interesting side note: Maybe, just maybe the Nano will work. I don't know though. This is because it uses flash memory and not a hard drive, which means lower power... (prk60091 says no though)
