Can you go with us step by step to get the 770 to work with the 770? I'd much appreciate it.

While pairing the 650 with the 770, they recognize each other but I always get an error message: the device you are attempting to connect does not offer the services you want.

In fact, on the 750, it offers BT: 1) hands-free setup, and 2) HotSync Setup. That's it. I'm stuck!

Any help will be much appreciated.

OK...I GOT IT...

TREO 650 works with 770.

Here's some things:
1. ON the 650...

go to Bluetooth
Click ON
Be sure to put both Discoverable and Dial-up Networking ON

A little laptop icon will take the place of the Bluetooth icon.

On the 770:

Go to TOOLS>CONTROL PANEL>PHONE

Select New...it will look for the 650
It will give you a 4 digit password
Hit OK
A screen will pop up on the 650
Put in the 4 digit password
Check to make it a trusted device
It should pair....

I got stuck here when it said that the phone did not supply needed
services...but it was just that I had not checked the Dial-Up Networking
box on the 650.

Go to TOOLS>CONNECTION MANAGER
CLICK Connection Manager at the top
CLICK TOOLS>Mobile Operator Setup Wizard
Got to your service (mine was Sprint)
OK

Then...still under CONTROL PANEL...go to CONNECTIVITY
change to Connect without asking "Any Connection"
CLICK on CONNECTIONS
CLICK on SPRINT (or whatever your service is)
CLICK on EDIT
I chose Data Call
NEXT
I put in Dial-up number #777
User Name (check with your cell service if you don't know it)
Password (check with your cell service if you don't know it). They won't
either, but they will reset it to whatever you want.
OK

NOW...finally, when I clicked on the little connection icon...
it shows both my Wifi connections and SPRINT!!!

It works...but it shows you how slow standard cell internet is
compared to Wifi. Seems about 1/4 the speed.

But...it makes the 770 at least usable when there are no
good Wifi connections around.

Hope this helps.

I have had my Treo 650 (Sprint) working with my 770 since I bought the Nokia and it had the 2005 OS loaded. Ever since then (2005 and 2006 Beta) I have been able to connect to my Sprint Treo 650 and it shows up in my connection list when I click "Connect" or "Change Connection...". However, on the new release of the 2006 OS this connection does not show up when I search for a network! I have to go into the connection manager and force it to try the Phone connection and then try to have the webbrowser force a connection in which case about 30% of the time it is able to connect to my Treo..... why does this not work anymore ???

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
James

How do you force it to use the phone connection if it doesn't show up in the 'Select Connection' list?

You DO have to have a data plan with Sprint, but if you do, it works fine. I have the older Vision plan and, as described on other posts on this forum, I got it to work just fine with the 770, altho, noticeably slower than Wifi.

The Sprint Tech had no problem giving me my Vision username. They do not keep the password, but he was fast in telling me that he could reset the password to anything I wanted. So I reset it, and it works fine.

Getting the Bluetooth to work and setting up the Treo 650, for me was a three hour pain in the derrierre....but finally, it all worked.
