Hmm... okay.

(I speak Finnish by the way so I can read this directly...)

Important info: this may not be the same story we saw last week.

Last week the speculation was based around comments by Nokia's CFO at a press event.

This article implies that it's talking about anonymous sources of information within Nokia, but it's so vague that it's impossible to say where they got their info from.

They're also vague on details but this is the interesting part:

Toistaiseksi kosketusnäytöllä toimivissa tableteissa ei ole ollut matkapuhelinyhteyttä, vaan ne ovat olleet internetiin yhteydessä w-lan-radiolla.

Nokiassa on jo kehitteillä Linux-pohjaisten internet-laitteiden seuraava sukupolvi, jossa on Helsingin Sanomien tietojen mukaan mukana myös matkapuhelin.
The first paragraph says that "At the moment the touchscreen-operated tablets do not include cellular radio ability (ie they're not mobile phones), but connect to the internet through WLAN (wi-fi)."

The second paragraph says that "Nokia is already developing a new generation of Linux-based internet devices, which according to Helsingin Sanomat's information will also include a mobile phone."

Are they talking about new tablets? It's unclear from the way they phrase it, but that could well be what they mean.

Is this the fabled N900 ?
Of course we love to jump on such juice tidbits fed by "anonymous sources".

But one never knows ...

The article implies it's more than one device, which would be in keeping with Nokia's strategy for their S60 smartphones of releasing many same generation variant devices at once.

Even if it doesn't have voice capability (other than SIP/VOIP), I'd still love to see this come about.

My ideal:

1) take the Sidekick Slide type format (screen slides, shoulders don't, dpad and other functional buttons on the shoulders).
2) enlarge it to have a screen the size of the N810.
3) give it a tilt screen instead of a kickstand.
4) charge via USB.
5) WCDMA in the 850MHz, 900MHz, 1700MHz, 1900MHz, and 2100MHz bands
6) Quad-band GSM, but maybe only for SMS/MMS/data ... I don't care one way nor the other about voice (on GSM or WCDMA).
7) Port the E series Symbian apps to it.
