I guess nearly everyone. What's the problem with it?

OK ... here's my setup

N800 with updated OS2008.
Bought the navicore personal which is advertised for N770 and N800, although instructions and documentation only ever refers to N770.

I have the Navicore/map app running, I can connect bluetooth to the 'dongle' thing and I can get a signal from a satellite or three.

I cannot get the app to show a map, of any kind. In the app option menu for 'maps' I see nothing in the 'maps in device' list.

Anyone got a good solid 'how to' guide to get it working? What's the best way to start from scratch, I've already uninstalled the map and navicore apps and reloaded from downloads and dvd (navicore and memory card) to no success

OK, but the big question is where they should be stored, as I have the maps on my 16gb Sd card (in the internal slot next to battery) but the app doesn't seem to recognise that, and the other card (in removable slot behind/beneath the fold-out stand) isn't big enough?

I'll try the download as well

Wayfinder uses /media/mmcX/map directory, Navicore used an other one as I remember. And there may be some other differences. Remove the Navicore directory, put only one card in, download the maps, and that's it. Wayfinder will use the card inserted. If there are two empty cards or two with a "map" directory it will use mmc2 (internal slot) by default.
You also need to download the voices. If you want to use a language what is not supported by Wayfinder you need to copy the voice files to ../map/navicore/Sounds/sound_eng otherwise it won't let you choose that "person".

thnaks, will give it a go. I see one issue already, all the files and format on the memort card provided with the system do not have the 'map' folder, rather it's 'navicore' instead. I'll try it as it comes out of the box, and if that doesn't work rename the folder to 'map' and see if that helps.

is nothing easy .. it's taken over 6 hours just to get this far (including having to refomat my memory card 5 times .. !!)

OK, not joy whichever way I try it. Even the memory card the damn thing is shipped with doesn't work (and never has done!!!).

Each time i try and download a map it restarts the damn n800 (unless i downlaod the Singapore version - 1mb - and that's the only one that works) ...???

I've put a support message to navicore and been told that they will respond in about 48 hours, nice.

bloody hell .. got it working!!!

Tip - ignore everything that navicore tell you, ignore the silly 1gb memory card you get with the navicore bundle. I had to reformat my own memory card (sitting in the internal slot, in the battery compartment).

Install the 'map' application from the install application list.

Install the 'navicore' application from the install application list.

Check you've got a wifi connection, start the map/navicore app. Use the 'map' option in the option list and do everything 'szucsati' says above, but make sure you have nothing of any 'map' or 'navicore' on any other installed memory card.

Will try the voice download now.
