About a month ago I tried using ThemeMaker to install a custom theme. I used the included "Nuvo' images and just pasted a couple of new images onto the main .png file, because I wanted to quickly test the app. I named my theme "nuvospidr".

Something went wrong. I don't remember what it was now, but the theme didn't install properly.

My problem is, now I can't uninstall it fully. I tried deleting the theme files, it looks like--because this all happened a while ago, I don't remember the exact steps. But now this is what I'm left with:

In Application manager, under "Show installed applications," my theme is listed but it's in red with a tiny exclamation mark. The size is listed as 0 kB.

If I select "Info" I get the following:
Maintainer:
Status: Broken
Category: Themes
Installed version: 1.0
Size 0 kB
Avbailable version: -
If I select "Uninstall" I get an "Operation failed" error message.

If I check under Tools>Log..., I find the following:
Uninstalling nuvospidr 1.0
/bin/sh: /usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure: not found
dpkg: error processing nuvospidr (--remove):
Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal.
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::logic_error'
what(): basic_string::_S_construct NULL not valid
apt-worker exited.
Errors were encountered while processing:
nuvospidr

Okay, so I'm obviously not a Linux or 770 expert, but surely there's something I can do on my own to remove this package, so that I don't have to reflash my 770?

This all reminds me of an old commercial on TV. The one who's tagline was: "It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature!!!"

"Sorry Dude!!! ... You've gotta brick!!!"

Leave messin' with the geekery to the geeks... I speak from experience.

Been there done that but i did it myself messing arround with dpkg. Using an older version of thememaker 0.5 i believe it was. It was a theme i had made myself and as i recall i didnt change the theme name while making the next theme. Not sure exactly what the cause was i have made so many theme revissions now its hard to remember i think it didnt install correctly and got an error. Same deal i wasnt able to uninstall it with application manager. So i went muching around in the terminal playing with dpkg trying to get rid of it. In the end i wasnt able to use application installer to install or uninstall anything.

I was muched! and yes i did reflash.

Konttori is the maintainer of thememaker he reads this site daily maybe he has some insight on a fix.
