I would check steps 10 and 11 from your link.
I have not done it on the tablet but the port and encryption setting are very important.
You also might try using pop.gmail.com that is what this says, and I use.
And did you turn on the pop setting inside your Gmail web interface?
Unless Yahoo supports POP or IMAP you can not get your email outside of the webpage. Only Yahoo plus ($$$) supports pop, Wikipedia believes some countries may have free pop but Wikipedia did not know which ones.

You can also try Modest - it supports GMail with IMAP.

but the problem is still available and the error was Authentication is not set for pop.gmail.com???

If you do a screenshot (I use load-applet) of "ALL" the input settings it would help...I have (had) both gmail's POP and imap working.....as well as other email ISP's....am using imap currently as I have my N82, IT, and PC all set to imap...either email them to me or post them and I will be glad to take a look....

Incidentally that tutorial is a little out of date as it was written for OS2007, I'm waiting for Diablo before updating it for OS2008.
