While I was browsing away on my n810 I noticed some kind of winged ant fly onto the screen and work its way between the screen and the case on the righthand side of the tablet. My reaction speed was too slow to stop it, and again when it resurfaced before heading back under. All kinds of tapping and paper scratching didn't help.

There seems to be quite a considerable gap between the case and screen; perfect for dust, gunk and bugs to get lodged inside. It looks to extend about a cm into the edge. a bit of a concern since the design leaves the screen exposed unless it's tucked away somewhere. Thankfully the bug popped it's head out of the bottom of the screen, and I was quick enough to blow it off

Ah.. a bug.

The gap is necessary because the active area of the touchscreen extends under the case; if it actually touched, pressure on the front panel (from gripping the device) would probably register clicks on it's own, or even if it didn't, would "bend" the position of other clicks...

But there's really quite a lot of room under there; thoughtfix has some disassembly pics and video in his blog, and it's really quite easy to pop the front panel off for routine cleaning. All the waterproofness is inside that, so the bug can't get anywhere harmful.

I normally run a piece of paper/tissue right under the edge to deal with this problem (dust - not bugs ).

Hey, you don't need anything fancy - just debug it! (Cheap Programmer humor, someone had to do it)

I think I remembered wrong. Sorry, I thought he'd done both, but I can't find the N810 now either.

I wonder how the bug fit into that gap. I looked at my N810 and the gap is not even big enough to fit a paperclip.
