I use Acronis on my Windows XP machine to make duplicates of my SD cards on which I have cloned systems. (I also make compressed backups of my SD cards onto a USB flash drive.) It works great. I also now use it to make backups of my Windows system. It's good software.

Have you tried to use this thing to clone a new tablet form a saved image, i.e., to put a clone copy to a new tablet? I.E. to restore a backup, not to the SD, but to the tablet. This is just a question, did not ask you to try, I am worry it may brick the tablet.

Nope. Just SD-to-SD for cloning, or for backup.
