... but you also gain the built in stand. The N770 "plate stand" was a piece of junk and you never seemed to have it on hand when you wanted to put it down. The N800 with the built in stand is great.
What should I do now? I need some help working out the pros and cons...
I can't live without a tablet for too long, I need a replacement as soon as possible. So what are my choices?
a) Get a used Nokia 770: I really would love to. I still think that with its large hardware buttons and the hard cover to protect the screen, the 770 was the best tablet ever built. I probably wouldn't be all that happy with an N800 or N810. Downside: A lot of people seem to think like me, I watched auctions at ebay and they go up to €150-200 - very expensive for a device that's really old now. Plus: It could well be I get a WSOD on the new one, too.
b) Get a used N800: Could be a good choice, however: No matter where I look, I don't find any. So I don't know what they cost ATM.
c) Forget money, get an N810: Mhm. Sells for €350-400 here. That's quite expensive for me, especially considering that it doesn't meet all my requirements.
d) Wait until N900 (or N841 or whatever) hits the shelves... At least it could be Nokia learned from the N8x0 mistakes and make it more mobile again. Although I'd very much like to do this, I need a replacement before my summer holidays and I very much doubt the new device will be in the shops before July 25th.
You know what? None of these options sound very exciting to me, especially with the expectation that a new model has to be announced within the next 6 months (remember the N8x0 hardware is 1 1/2 years old!!)
What would you guys suggest? I think it boils down to "get something, no matter what, as cheap as possible before you really upgrade to the next model". It's just that this strategy doesn't work with the prices I see.
