Just create a new catalog with the following info:

Catalog name: maemo Extras chinook
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/
Distrbution: chinook
Components: free non-free

That's all. The old applications will appear as installable applications.

Go to application Catalog. Open up the catalog details for extras. In the line Distribution add the text 'chinook diablo' without the 's

By tapping "Yes to All" you chose to overwrite newer files from Diablo with older files from your backup.

While upgrading my tablet to Diablo, I saw several of these overwrite warnings, but none appeared to be a critical decision. Each and every one regarded a website icon in the RSS Feed Reader's cache. I elected to keep the newer icons that came with Diablo, but I can't image overwriting them would have caused any harm.
