Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to change the default item in the boot menu after having installed initfs. So I'm trying to achieve this by directly editing /mnt/initfs/bootmenu.sh.
I think default_root is the variable to hunt for, but it occurs many times and I don't want to do anyhting foolish.
Any tips?

OK, sorry, I figured it out.
Just run this command as root:
chroot /mnt/initfs cal-tool --set-root-device ask:flash

Someone (KotCzarny?) already did quick hack for this. I plan to add it to bootmenu. Also some user configrable string for name etc. is good idea too.
Also, is it possible to mount a jffs2 initfs image on a different mountpoint or does default kernel lack modules?

Just saw this thread.
I did something similar for bootmenu.sh. I modified the boot_message() to something like:
boot_message(){
${T2S} -c
${T2S} -s 1 -H center -y 20 -T 0 -t "Booting from ${default_root} (${root_dev} ${root_fstype})..."
${T2S} -s 1 -H center -y 392 -T 0 -t "this N800 belongs to"
${T2S} -s 2 -H center -y 405 -T 0 -t "xxx@gmail.com"
${T2S} -s 2 -H center -y 425 -T 0 -t "408 xxx-yyyy"
}
Those messages stay longer while the device is booting up.....
