What I find interesting is that Microsoft is not even trying to get Windows on the Cloudbook (or at least, there is no mention of Windows anywhere in connection with the Cloudbook) whereas, significantly, they made a last-ditch effort to get XP unto the Asus Eee.

The "cheap ultraportable" category is starting to slip through their fingers. Which is something Linux users can only applaud.

I thought the netpad looked cool. Never found one to play with though.

I read somewhere today (could have been Engadget, but I'm not sure) that beginning in January, Best Buy will be selling the Eee. I'm pretty sure that's got Microsoft trying to come up with what to do as far as the Eee goes. Once the Eee hits mainstream, middle-America oriented stores, a LOT of people are going to see that there's an affordable option other than Windows (I'm not even going to mention any Macs - you can't find a $600, let alone a $400 portable Mac).

Couple that with a bunch of salesgeeks touting no viruses and I bet people will bite. Or at least take more than a glance at something non-MS.

Ohhh man...This little devil might just force me to hang up my n800-shoes. There's only room for one gadget in my bag and the cloudbook offers the office software I need in a portable as a college student...ya, my poor n800 is wimpering as I type this. *There there little tablet, don't cry*

did anyone ever get their hands on Cloudbook? (seems like wally has them in stock already)
i wonder if that small touch pad is as bad as everyone claims.

also what kind of applications would you able to install?

i went ahead and ordered it. hoping for the best.
i don't plan to ditch my N800, although lately i have only used it for navigation or playing occasional game before i fall asleep.
