Thanks for pulling this one back up, jjchambers. I'd like to give your modified interface a try; if I get to it soon, maybe I could offer insight (though my web programming skills are barely above nil). Keep us posted!

I forgot that I also deleted the volume slider. I don't plan on putting it back in, I'm just going to add a regular VOL up and dn buttons for either my TV or stereo.
Here's some screen shots and a couple showing the problems I have with long text. Notice the slider position of file labeled problem2.jpg.

Thanks,

J

Updated the backgrounds, got the extra large buttons to work. I don't think I'm going to do a volume on these pages but I think I'll try to add a mute button in that empty space under MusicPlaylist. Tomorrow I'm gonna re-work the power and reset buttons. Still haven't figured out what's going on with my text. Let me know what you think.

I copied it to a separate directory under "web" as you suggested and it works well. I will say that the ~4 seconds it takes to reload the page after every click sort of takes away from the Awe Factor, but this is true with the original web interface as well. It's an N800 thing (or maybe my wireless network, but probably not) since my desktop loads them instantly.

I'm still a bit surprised that we haven't found a really good AJAX-enabled one, or some sort of Python front end that makes it a smooth operation. I do like what you've done with this, though, so thanks!

Wanting to try again that old AJAX interface I got awhile back (when I was running OS2007), I gave it another go (now with OS2008 "Diablo"). It worked, sort of. It's unpolished and buggy. So I set out to find a more recent version. After some digging, I came upon the author's site where he hosts the now-named iBrowse:

jj, did you ever come across this? If not, I think you'll love it. It even has working volume buttons.

Here's a screenshot of it using Album Art. The interface resembles iTunes':

Dan,

Thanks for checking it out.

I did not come across that version of ajax during my search. I did try the older version of Ajax and it worked for crap. I'll dl the latest from the site you mentioned and see what happens. I don't know much about web/server stuff, but all of the images in my files are .png. The .png version of the buttons are actually smaller than the .jpg equivalent, but the background images as a .png are almost twice as big as the .jpg version. I wonder if I made all the background images .jpg if it would speed up the load times? Is there a reason the original images are all .png's?

I'm also going to be digging into the commands that get the list of files and see if I can cut it off so the text doesn't go all funny on me.

Does anyone know if the WebUI is available yet for the Linux port of XBMC. Last time I checked it wasn't. When you enable WebUI in Network settings and then browse to your XBMC server I just get a web page that says "It Works!" I have been eagerly anticipating a working WebUI so that I can use my Nokia 770 to control my XBMC. Lots of people ask why you would want to do this, but to me its a no-brainer. If you have speakers setup through out your house and you don't happen to be in the room that the XBMC lives, it's nice to be able to switch tracks, change volume or rate a song, etc.

cptvitamin, if you have any version of Ubuntu installed there is a good chance Apache2 was installed as well. You'll want to change your XBMC web port and try again.
