I launched his .install file and then modified the repo, adding chinook to the distribution line (which was empty) and everything is working fine now.

I asked over at the mceforum as well and of course, no answer. The guy that writes this is extremely talented, but it seems he has no time for support. I have had posts back as far as Feb not answered.

Ig i get the answer I will post here.

after some trial and error i got mceguru to install. here is the line in the install file you need to edit:

uri = http://www.mceguru.com/repo810/ chinook

i added chinook at the end and the app installed. thanks for the hint, faberfox.

sumit.

I have problem with the server installation. I have Vista Ultimate 32 with SP1 and other updates found in MS update.
The install says: "MCE Guru Server can only be installed on Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate Edition." And so the setup fails.
Any ideas what I could do to install? Setup-file is beta3-3.
I have installed those DirectX Libraries and rebooted also.

I installed the Server component on the Vista machine and then the Client component on the N810 (after changing the repository address as posted above (and repeated below)

Web address : http://www.mceguru.com/repo810/
Distribution : chinook - this line is missing in the install file I guess.
Components : user

Now the MCEGuru SDL loads up the program - by it never connects to the Vista Media center server in any way. I dont see any connect button either in the settings or anywhere.

How do I setup the N810 to connect to the Vista machine running Media center over the Wifi network that I have ? Any settings to be done on the Media center side ?

Note : the MCEGuru server on the Vista machine does prompt me that that MCEGuru is started has found media (or something to that effect)

Hi There,

Very sorry about my silence I am unfortunately quite occupied in my private life right now

Thanks a lot for pointing out the bug in the .install file which didn't work anymore on diablo firmware because of the missing distribution name
I changed the install file on the beta download website a few minutes ago and tested it on the chinook and on the diablo firmwares : it now works fine

Thanks again guys !

Hmm strange... I personnaly didn't update my vista to SP1 yet.
Does anyone has the same problem ? perhaps I made a version checking mistake in the install package generation script.

I'll try to test it on an updated VistaSP1 system asap.

Thanks for the report !

Oh, and I didn't mention that I have also installed that "Windows_Media_Center_TV_Pack_2008_RTM". Maybe that messes things also.
Maybe I should have installed MCEGuru before those updates. Maybe I'll test that in virtual machine if I have time.
