Newbie here and wondering how to move mp3s into the 810. I have a 2 gb removeable mini sd card. When I connect usb I see in MY COMPUTER removeable disk J and K but see no folder in either to drag and drop files to. Can I access the 810s file manager somehow with my desktop? How is the transfer of music files done? Thanks

J and K are the drives that you want to drop them in. Then you can move them wherever you want on your n800 when you unplug the cable.

You may also consider copying directly to the card from your PC using an SD card reader jump drive ($3- $4 these days) or an internal card reader. Drop the albums directly on the drive letter that your PC assigns. I presume you have a MiniSD to SD adapter.

This is probably the fastest way to copy.

thanks everyone. I'm a 2 day owner and learning by the minute. I think I will have to transfer by putting the sd mini in a reader and into my PC because when I tried it via USB moving the swinging bracket to access the USB port let the sd card come out enough to lose contact.....any solution there? The card doesn't seem to snap in, just go in a be held by that bracket. I did the card reader into PC and moved 4 songs to it as a test. They showed up in file manager in the removable memory card/my downloads folder. I dragged and dropped them into the Audio clips folder. Is that correct? When I have more they will have to stay on the card. How can I access songs on the card without going into file manager/removable memory card/my downloads? I'm just using the stock Media Player. Sorry for the rambling questions, but I think you can see where I am in the learning curve. Thanks again.

Your card is slipping out of the external socket, you need to push it in a bit further you havent actually locked it in yet. it should click into place and to get it out you wil have to push it in again and it will pop out.
In the file manager set up a folder on your card for music.

As far as players go there are several to choose from sterling, yamp, streamtunner, xmms, canola, kagu, kilikali, ukmp, mplayer and several gui front ends for it (kmplayer, smplayer, etc.).Each have different levels of gui interface with canola being one of the most sophisticated and yamp being one of the least.

hope that helps

It shouldn't be coming out at all, the cover should be staying in place. Try pushing it in further as silvermain suggests.

Thanks again......this is the most responsive, helpful and friendliest forum I've evr joined regardless of subject! Ok, I was a little too cautious with the sd card and just now "snapped" it into place and all is well. I am learning rapidly with trial and error and mostly by searching info here. Last night during my usb transfer fiasco my 810 froze. After a quick search I was able to rectify it by following the poster's advice (remove battery for a while). I did encounter a problem that I fixed by unistalling a few things I had installed, but don't know which one was the prob. I had installed canola2, fm radio, and mplayer all in one swoop and noticed that I totally lost sound on the unit. After uninstalling and rebooting it was ok. I know I should only install one thing at a time, but got carried away with this little jewel. Speaking of canola....if I reinstall canola2 do I have to install any other canolas? I see clean up, tunings, etc? Thanks

Well, you don't have to install the cleanup or tuning. But the tuning adds extra features. Click the info button in the app manager and it'll tell you about the package. I've never installed the cleanup myself. I'm not sure what it does exactly.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I just got my N810 and have some trouble with the SD card as well.
When you're talking about "snapping" in, do you mean, you push in the card, and with a small click it stays in place. And after pushing it again it will flip out? Just like the RS-MMC on the 770?
Mine is often pushing open the door as soon as I flip the kick-stand, and not staying in place at all. Maybe I should send the unit back?!
Thanks!

Might be worth trying another card before you send the IT back.
