Didn't see this with a quick search.... just got my n800, so I need something to protect it.

They are nice, in part because it's a rigid fabric case so IT buttons cannot be pressed accidently while in storage. Actually Circuit City sold these for $10 for a long time. $13 is still a good deal. I strongly recommend buying anything from CC using their "24 minute pickup guarantee". This is where you purchase online, and then drive to your local CC to pickup...if they can't give you delivery of the item at their customer service counter within 24 minutes of the (online) purchase time, they give you a gift card worth $24.

I actually got my Case Logic case free, because of this policy.

Thanks for the 24 min order tip. On second thought, as nice as this case is for long-hauls, I found out that a cheap(er) plastic box I have fits the n800 just fine. Instead, I am gonna hunt for a case where I can use the n800 actively (e.g. ports are exposed). I'm leaning towards the Boxwave gray Flexiskin, though it'd be the first silicone/rubber case I've used. I always had my Dell Axim x30 in an aluminum case, and judging by the scratches and spots on the case after 4 years of use, I'll need something similar for the n800.

You can get the Boxwave Flexskin MUCH CHEAPER via eBay, and other places. I bought two, and they have to be the same, judging from the illustration. I think that eBay is selling the originals, where Boxwave gets them. I got mine for $10 including shipping.

If you search carefully through my old messages about batteries, you will find the address of a company listed. This was a message from this year, I'm pretty sure. That company also sells the boxwave-like silicone skins, at an incredibly cheap price. If you want, I'll find the address myself.

Here is the web address of the site that sells that cheap silicone skin exactly like the Boxwave one. I had a good experience with this site.

I should have read up on your old post about buying from that site, geneven. It took them 5 days for them to tell me that the gray version was out of stock (and then two weeks for shipping after they confirmed the white version was sent out).

Oh, and for anyone who was still interested in the PHDC1, it is not on sale anymore at Circuit City's website. Hope it still helped someone though.

I have two of these cases and bought them back in February of 2007 when I first got my N800. One was purchased to house my little 40GB Seagate portable USB hard drive.. the other for my N800 since i didn't see any good cases back then.

The Case Logic hard drive case you showed is sturdy and safe--good for long trips and such. It even has some space to hold cables in a pocket inside. The downside is that it's VERY cumbersome in all other respects. There's no holes for any headphones or other ports nor buttons. I would leave the zipper open a tiny bit for headphones--but that still gives you a not-so-portable case, way too big for any clothing pocket anyway, to bring around with you.

I've also got the Boxwave black flexskin too. I find that this is an EXCELLENT skin--it's got that ODD squishy and rubbery yet the texture repulses dust and dirt to help prevent them from sticking to it. I really do like it and it has all the right holes and such. The only downsides--I do wish it allowed the kickstand to come out--but that's a minor annoyance. The MAJOR annoyance is that, once inside the skin, the N800 can no longer be mounted to the Nokia dashboard mount since it needs to be able to slide in and out. This shouldn't be a problem if you use a PDA holder that just pinches it to hold it in place--in fact, should be an advantage since it's now rubbery and won't slip at all.

I've got a third style of case coming in the mail soon.. I'll let you know what I think of that one as soon as I get that too.
