Maemo mapper crashes on startup now on my n810 with Diablo installed. I did move the map repositories after installing it and then it started doing this on launch. I have had this happen on previous OS installs but it went away. Where can I look for logs to see what is happening on startup? Is there a way to reset the settings, I already tried reinstalling Maemo Mapper and it appears the settings remain.

Using gconf I removed the Map Rep. and POI db settings and Maemo Mapper now boots. This means I have narrowed down the problem to what I think was causing it. I still want to look at the logs to see what was happening, can anyone point me in the right direction, initial searches on google and the forum come up short for the log locations.

I have seen another thread that details how to retain maps in your cache so you don't have to download them all the time. This is what I had originally tried to do when changing the map db locations. I put them all in a /mmc2/maemomaps/reponame.db. The other thread mentioned putting each file in its on subdir(even though the default location puts them in the same dir). Could this be a cause of the problem, or could it have to do with certain types of MiniSD cards(I am using a 4GB Class 6 Patriot).

If I understand correctly, you moved them, and then it didn't work? Just changing the gconf entries to point at the new location instead of deleting them probably would have gotten it. From here, though, you can just recreate the repos. Then, with MM closed, copy the old databases over the new ones. (Or recreating them pointing at the old databases should work, but not as quick for me.)

Well I moved them to the removable card(MMC2) in which I have a 4Gb card. I just created a /mmc2/meamomaps/ dir and put all the .db files in here. I did not move the original files when I did this though. I just assumed it would create new files. Then shortly after I did this I changed to view one of the different Maps and the next time I tried to update the maps MM crashed. From that point forward it crashed on startup(as in you never even see the GUI load after launch).

I have had this occur a few months before but not as severe. The app would load and then crash only when a internet connection was established. If i left the tablet in offline mode it would not crash and it also seemed to only occur with some of the Maps but not all 6. This is how I knew the problem was related to the locations of the map database files.

Start from the command line, look at the output?
