If you can't uninstall using the app manager, then user apt-get on the command line. At least you would get a cause if it doesn't uninstall either.

used
Code:
apt-get remove xulrunner
and it removed just fine with the warning
Code:
dpkg - warning: while removing xulrunner, directory `/usr/local' not empty so not removed.
Then tried to install from package manager and it failed again.

I will try dpkg this time

once every thing was removed again, an install with dpkg worked

Code:
dpkg -i /media/mmc1/Installs/Mozilla_m8/xulrunner_1.9.1b1pre-20080923171103_armel.deb
dpkg -i /media/mmc1/Installs/Mozilla_m8/fennec_0.8_armel.deb
There is an icon now even the k/b seems to work now sweet.

gets an 87 on acid 3 test, but it did take about a minute to run!

Note:
I had the files downloaded from here
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mobile/di..._0.8_armel.deb
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mobile/di...1103_armel.deb

I think you can place an internet address in the dpkg command, though I have never tried it.

I simply used dpkg (as root) to remove fennec first, then xulrunner:

Code:
dpkg -r fennec
dpkg -r xulrunner
Then downloaded the two debs for fennec and xulrunner (ericdkirk posted the links above) and then installed xulrunner first and then fennec via dpkg (obviously change your paths accordingly):

Code:
dpkg -i /media/mmc1/debs/xulrunner_1.9.1b1pre-20080923171103_armel.deb
dpkg -i /media/mmc1/debs/fennec_0.8_armel.deb

I'm having the exact, same problem as windzilla with exactly the same message and dpkg -r doesn't work returning the same error code.
"error exit status 139 Errors were encountered while processing:"
I don't have fennec or Canola installed so there either must be some other app that is using xulrunner or xulrunner may be be segmented. Note that the installed xulrunner says that it is "broken but able to update."
Any help would be appreciated.

my error persists. i have also tried re-installing fennec just so that i can un-install xulrunner using dpkg immediately after dpkg -r fennec. all as root, in case that sequence was somehow important.

any thoughts? what is that error or how would i go about looking it up?

any help is appreciated. i'm not sure if i should post this in the troubleshooting section instead.

Im also having this problem, the only way I have found to remove xulrunner is to manually install an older build from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mobile/dis.../binary-armel/ which will then be uninstallable, but if I try to install the new version again it will break again.

Why will it be uninstallable?

Okay, installed Fennec 0.8 and xulrunner 1.9.1b1pre... It works okay and didn't crash on me yet. The interface is stable, the tab interface is implemented and works, options, bookmarks, extension and plugin interfaces - all are working. Everything is slow, but working. Even the small virtual keyboard shows up on addressbar click, just not every time

Overall i like what i see - it is slow, but working... Probably can just improve from now on.

EDIT: There's even a new icon with the new Fennec logo

EDIT2: You can even enable the JIT compiler.

EDIT3: Okay, it crashed once, but overall much more stable, even with JIT (slightly faster with it too). No right click yet, no tab closing (couldn't find it), flash and media plugins are disabled by default, but you can enable them (crash warning ).
