I have installed hamachi, and initiated it. I have it started, but when I go to login, it says login fails. Any ideas?

I managed to figure out what was wrong, and got hamachi to work. It worked fine yesterday, but today I relaunched the program from xterm I get: date/time [ 0] [ 943] tap: connect () failed 2 (No such file or directory).

Any ideas why? I can run hamachi-init -f and it rebuilds, otherwise it states that path /root/.hamachi already exists. I can't join, stop, as the system states Hamachi does not seem to be running. Have you run 'hamachi start'?

I currently have to re-run tuncfg as root (Then switch to user) every time I re-boot my Nokia 770 before running Hamachi, could this be the problem. (I have to re-run tuncfg as I imagine I have not quite set it up correctly as a service?)

Note: Root and User are different users to Hamachi and require separate logons etc

Cant wait for a GUI version of Hamachi which will make it easier for all Nokia 770 users to use, hopefully the underlying install will be addressed at the same time.

Thanks MikeL. That worked.

I have one question for understanding. You mentioned in TVersity forum that you don't need to worry about port forwarding on the router when you have hamachi running. That way Mediastreamer and VNC work fine.

So when Hamachi runs, it creates the link, and then those apps can be run without the need for port forwarding, along with giving security, corrrect? And I don't need to do anything else to make that happen?

I haven't been able to test Hamachi outside my home network, but should be able to give it a try this weekend. Will let you know if I have issues...

Thanks again for the tuncfg tip.

In theory yes although I have not had success yet with Media Streamer running outside my local network as UPnP expects everything to be running on same network. (TVersity team think it should work with a bit of tweaking, I need to get around to testing again but away this weekend?) http://forums.tversity.com/viewtopic...hlight=hamachi

Regarding VNC yes it just works, as does the web based TVersity GUI Lib running in the opera browser. (Note: Use your Hamachi network IP)

Great that someone is testing similar things as then we can be more sure that results are consistent etc.

I tried to use Hamachi from a free Wifi site, and I was never able to login with Hamachi in the xterm window. I know I launched it right, since I was able to start Hamachi. Do you think it was an issue with the free Wifi, since it requires a pass to get to the access portal, and hamachi can't travel through on the web link.

Hamachi only works when you have (reasonably) unfettered access to the internet. If you can't open google.com in your browser, chances are you're SOL.

libroadnav
mroadnav
mhamachi <--- new!
abiword
