I now removed Virtual Memory (didn't know that...) and i didn't use my bluetooth keyboard and used install tools again.

Now when selecting to boot from SD in bootmenu, it shows the Nokia Screen with "Booting from mmc12 (mmcblk0p2 ext3)..." and the progress bar, BUT it hangs up when the progress bar is filled up....
The n810 doesn't respond to any button actions now - have to take out the battery for reboot....

It seems like i installed some software that is not compatible with cloning....
I think i will backup my data now, and reflash it with a fresh diablo and then create the clone....

I now flashed a fresh diablo onto my n810, and installed all updates with application manager.

Nevertheless, the install-tools-advanced won't work. The script runs without problems, the n810 reboots, i can select to boot from external SD, then comes the NOKIA screen with the progress bar, where it hangs up.... again i needed to remove the battery...

I really don't understand this.... Am i missing something essential???
Does anyone have an idea? Thanks

I just know I am asking a reely stoopid question here, but -

How do you go about creating the internal or external.txt file and how do you copy it over to where it needs to go?

Use you favorite SIMPLE TEXT editor (vim, nano, ?) (don't use something that puts extraneous characters into the file) and modify the example .txt files then save them to where they are supposed to be.

From the install directory you could run these commands

echo "FAT 148" > EXTERNAL.txt
echo "SWAP 356" >> EXTERNAL.txt
echo "1 ext2" >> EXTERNAL.txt
echo "2 ext3" >> EXTERNAL.txt
echo "TIMEOUT 11" >> EXTERNAL.txt

Just adjust the values as you like.

Note the > creates a new file the >> apends to it

I tried running it twice and the first time the resulting ext2 OS would attempt to boot but quit about halfway and reboot. I ran it again and it now will boot into ext2. I was wondering, if I use the below script with the idea of making two bootable partitions (on a 2 gig card), will it copy the flash twice or just once?


FAT 16
SWAP 128
1 ext2
2 ext3
TIMEOUT 11


I never get offered the option to boot ext3, instead I get some nonsense line about external ext2 which it lists as N/A. Nothing is ever done to the external card. I am not sure how to check ext3 to see if anything is in there.

It will copy flash twice, once to each partition your creating

So how do I modify the boot menu to list the ext3 partition? And I should have asked, does it matter what condition the MMC card is in prior to running this? I did have a 3-partition setup before same as your but I believe there was no swap partition installed, could that be the problem?

It does not matter what was there before, it will wipe it all out. It will automatically write the bootmenu for you.
