Please, uninstall this version, download once again and install. I made some changes: remove kismet_done, remove wavs and disable apm & sound support.

Before uninstall, you need remove as root (!) one file from kismet package. In xterm, as root type:

rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/kismet.postrm

(sorry, my fault)

I am really pleased that Kismet is now working on IT2006, but have a few usage issues to report. The first is that kismet doesn't seem to be keeping the system from doing power management stuff. If I leave kismet running for more than a few minutes, the system first dims the screen and then kismet spits out a line about saving files. If I tap the screen after this point, kismet is still running, but does not resume scanning. I find that the radio is more or less in a hung state after exiting kismet and I have to reboot to reinitialize system control of the wireless. I am sure there is a command line way to do it, but anything involving the command line isn't quick and easy on a tablet device like the 770.

The lack of granular power management is one of my big pet peaves with the N770 in general, and has kept me from using it like I want to on more than a few occasions. Frankly, even having a a system with just a simple on and off, rather than the current "daddy knows best" approach to power management would be most welcome. It would be nice if someone could whip up a nice gui app that would allow for explicit control of power management/auto suspend. It would be even nicer if Nokia simply fleshed out some of its control panel applets. The minimal/half hearted way many aspects of basic system control are implemented leaves much to be desired and will be a major factor in deciding to purchase a version 2 device.

I'm having trouble actually controlling kismet, it doesn't repond to key presses from either an external bluetooth keyboard, or the onscreen keyboard..

Is there something I'm missing ?

Cheers

Just compiled gpsd, and ran it with kismet, no problems. Perhaps adding gpsd into the bluetooth plugin package might be the most useful approach..
