As I have said before on other posts, I am a complete newbie to all things linux related, but to date have only praise for the N810 and the software on it... well almost..

Firstly I have a real bug bear with the contacts app, it really isn't worth the space on my N810, and syncing it with my N95 is a no go unless I want to sit there an manually edit every single contact so that they are useable and with over 400 contacts this simply isn't a viable option for me....
So I installed the GPE contacts, which while not perfect is at least somewhere near what I am looking for...

So what the problem I hear you ask... well how can I remove the other "contact" app from the system - it seems like such a waste to have it.

The same is for many of the pre-installed apps...

Can they be EASILY removed?

Thanks guys, all help so far has been well received

Short answer: No. Long answer: Yes, but only with great difficulty and risk. The programs really don't take up that much space, but if you find yourself bumping the upper limit of your available application memory you're probably better off cloning your OS to an SD card and booting from there. You can, however, remove unused icons from the application menu by deleting the corresponding ".desktop" files located in "/usr/share/applications/hildon". It won't save any space but it will help tidy up the application menu.

The command is "rm", short for remove. And please, do be careful when deleting files.
