tso,
why do you think i created it as a default property on style rendering - ive had the grid tucked away for ages, I know its going to be useful but have other things to do first.

(curious folks can check liqtile_easyrun.c for backmode rendering )

one more thing,

i'm going to be perfecting pan/zoom in the coming days and weeks.
I have my source data, I aim to be able to move and explore this as smoothly as possible:

Obviously its nothing that hasn't been done before, I just need something large enough that I can feel whether its right or not.

Knowing how much processing can be done per pixel is important for lots of rendering and think we need something pretty to wander around

Currently however this is very unoptimized and calculates the whole screen in one go and uses expensive floating point and slow graphics operations - it takes 5seconds per frame.

Its NOT ready yet, and won't be out for a couple of weeks at least - there is more required than a simple hack.
I have to adapt the file format to be told what the background color is, and that ties in with me expanding into a database.

hope you lot can wait
I can wait ^^ and it looks great.
thanks for the hard work. Any chance you want liqbase in spanish? that's the only skill I can offer, translating stuff.

It would be nice if the menu / palette on the drawing screen would auto-hide (use the nice slide animation that you use for all your menus) once you start drawing, and a tap on the screen edge (or a press of the menu hw key) would bring it back. A tap and hold makes a hand or four-way arrow appear under the stylus, or alternately, the fullscreen keypress toggles the mode, and you can pan the large page around.

qole,
i dont like auto hide - its unintuitive.

full screen button would work nicely to hide the menu and is more intuitive but then i lose global "press fullscreen to take screenshot"
I might have to make the screen shot be something else.

panning and zooming should ideally be alternative tool items which replace the colorbox with their own bit of UI relating to reset zoom or a preview or something.

I think I will end up putting something like that in as well as press [SHIFT] to quickly drag, but that upsets 800 owners.

I was going to use the menu key for shifting between different views and contexts of an object.
for instance allow contexts for sketching, grouping, adjusting, tagging, preview, histo ry on the drawing screen to be cycled round.
after writing this, i'm not so sure now, I'll have as think.

hmmmm, I have a weird idea, probably bad.

Why not use the camera as a "key" If it is pure black, aka covered, it turns into scroll mode.

black would be useless because n800 owners are black all the time.

i was toying with barcode stuff a couple of weeks ago, and I thought I could use the identified barcode rectangle as a pointer.

i was rotating it round and playing and pondering.

im posting solid public ideas now in one place by the way

i agree, but that list contains part of where I would like to get to
all are achievable and none are way out there, its just stuff discussed, if something comes of them great, if not I'm not bothered.
I have no timeline for some, others have higher priority - theres even more I want to try.

better to have ideas and try to implement them than sit idle.

lcuk, I for one also think you should concentrate on the sketch related features. This is what makes liqbase interesting, the rest of features can be beaten elsewhere. Computer texts and photos to be offered only as complements to sketching (e.g. letting the user scratch notes on top of texts or images). About the rest, either drop it or deal with it in different apps (or plugins, if you really want to keep everything under the same umbrella).

Note that liqbase needs still a lot of work in usability, consistent layout and probably also pure stability, testing... Then if your project is successful enhancement requests will arrive e.g. what about other geometries apart from rectangles. The wider your feature set, the more complicated to have everything stable and remarkably original.

Also put top performance by default. Don't expect users to scan all the settings before being convinced or deceived, and liqbase feels much better/useful with top performance.
